GLOBAL COMPACT

Grand Hill is a signatory to the Global Compact on human rights, labor, the environment and the fight against corruption. Based on our values, we are committed to making the Global Compact and its principles part of the strategy, culture and day-to-day operations of our company and the business community with which we engage in order to promote the broader development goals of the Nations Nations, in particular the Sustainable Development Goals.

The initiative

Launched in 2000 by the then Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, the Global Compact is a call for companies to align their strategies and operations with 10 universal principles in the areas of Human Rights, Labor, Environment and Anti-Corruption and to develop actions that contribute to face society's challenges. It is now the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, with more than 13,000 members in almost 80 local networks, covering 160 countries.

The 10 Principles

The Global Compact advocates ten universal Principles, derived from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Declaration of the International Labor Organization on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development and the United Nations Convention against Corruption.

Organizations that become part of the Global Compact are committed to following these principles in their day-to-day operations.

Human rights

The report points out that 92% of companies have instituted policies and practices related to human rights, with 80% incorporating human rights principles within corporate codes. Meanwhile, 53% offer human rights training and awareness programs for employees and 72% report that the Global Compact played an essential role in indicating the impact that led them to address the issue.

Environment

Of the participants, 78% say they have sustainable consumption and responsible use goals. A quarter reported fully integrating water, climate change, renewable energy and biodiversity issues into their corporate strategy and operations. Two-thirds report that the Global Compact played an essential role in indicating the impact that led them to address the issue.
